Biography
Canadian baritone, Noah Grove has been praised as “a well-trained, rich baritone” (OPERA CANADA), who is “warm, mellow, and intuitively musical… with a seductive vibrato and masterful phrasing.” (Paula Citron)
Last year, Noah had his role debut as Schaunard in Against The Grain Theatre’s La Bohème, performing dates in Yukon, Canada as part of their cross-country tour. Recently, Noah also performed as Junius in the Glenn Gould School’s production of Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, Ignacio in Bolcom’s Lucrezia, as well as in concert performances with the Arts & Letters Club of Toronto and Opera Canada. In 2018, Noah had his role debut as Papageno in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with the Opera NUOVA Music Festival followed in 2019 by a performance with the Glenn Gould School. He was described as “the most polished of the principals” (ludwig-van) and applauded for his “superb performance both comically and vocally” (Toronto Concert Reviews).
In past seasons he has appeared numerous times on the Koerner Hall Stage with the Glenn Gould School, in concert with the Huronia Symphony Orchestra, as a soloist and Sidgwick Scholar of the Orpheus Choir of Toronto under the direction of Robert Cooper, and in recital at the GGS and Arts & Letters Club of Toronto. Noah has studied under the direction and baton of artists such as Michael Cavanagh, Joel Ivany, Rosemary Thomson, Gordon Gerrard, and Nicolas Ellis.
Noah is a graduate of the Glenn Gould School where he received his Bachelor of Music (Hons. Voice Performance) and Artist Diploma as a Temerty Foundation Scholarship recipient. He has had the opportunity to work and coach with various acclaimed musicians such as Adrianne Pieczonka, Michael McMahon, Tracey Dahl, John Fanning, and Bryan Wagorn. Noah attended Canterbury High School of the Performing Arts in Ottawa, where he was an active member of both the classical and musical theatre communities. Noah currently studies with Monica Whicher.
